Journey summary
How can somewhere very close to Western Europe be so diverse? From the second you awake to the sounds of the phone call to prayer, the history, art, culture, way and religion of living the Kingdom of Morocco beguiles you, long after you have come back home. The diverse landscapes also provide a feast for the traveller boasting huge mountains, rugged coastline, deep gorges, fertile river valleys as well as the sweeping sands of the Sahara.
At 4,167m/13,671ft high, Jebel Toubkal is the primary, but by no means the sole, objective on this fantastic brand new shorter trekking holiday. Whilst many might be content simply to attempt to bag North Africa’s highest peak in 2 or maybe 3 times, our itinerary provides conscientious acclimatisation and also immerses you in the area of the Berbers.
Leaving Marrakesh, you generate a quick drive to Oukaimden in the center of the High Atlas to start the trek of yours on the Toubkal Massif. The trek of yours is going to take you through remote valleys, crossing very high passes and camping in high pastures or perhaps by rushing streams. After warming up with a trek around the southern and eastern flanks of the Jebel Toubkal, it is an easy climb to the summit, which rewards you with views over the Middle and high Atlas and sometimes the Sahara beyond. Finally you go back to Marrakesh with moment to feel the sights & sounds of this many atmospheric of cities.
Generally you are able to look to be trekking for 6 7 several hours each morning, but there’s also time period to rest and relax. You’ll trek with a neighborhood Berber manual, a crew and a cook of muleteers, whose mules will bring the camp tools plus your kit bags. The path you’ll carry out takes you through a selection of Small settlements and berber villages, so there is lots of opportunity to get an insight into the area culture and way of living.
