Online poker allows you the freedom to lie. Bluffing is an important part. Online poker forums have been abuzz with a few “informed” articles about a scammer. Online poker rooms are manipulating games to their advantage. It means that the flops, turns, rivers and rivers are connected to players’ hand, making it more attractive for them to invest their money.
Bigger pots mean bigger rake. This is great news, right? Why would they not want to rig the games in order to make more?
The Poker Sites are a losing proposition.
There is no incentive to rig cash games. Because of the set fees that are charged by poker rooms for tournaments or sit and go’s, each person who buys in to a game is subject to payment. In addition, tournaments have a higher number of participants so rigging will not generate more income for the poker club for the majority its games. Don’t risk ruining your reputation trying to boost just a fraction of your income.
A rake cap is also placed on each cash-game hand. This means that once a pot reaches a certain amount, it doesn’t matter how much it grows after that point. The result is that they are not motivated by the idea of taking more action to increase their income.
To be safe, we’ll pretend that the poker website got greedy and decided it was a good idea to rig its games. It’s not that difficult to do.
Rigging at gacor138 is not really possible
The RNG (random numbers generator) is what poker sites use for dealing cards. Random cards mean that there will be huge discrepancies among the expected frequencies and actual card distributions. These discrepancies would quickly be discovered because poker tracking software keeps detailed records of thousands upon thousands of players.
If there were any kind of inconsistency even slight, it would cause a massive scandal and players will lose confidence in the poker site. It would eventually lead the site to lose a lot of revenue. Online gambling and poker are so popular that it is easy to lose your confidence.
No poker venue wants to risk their financial stability by targeting particular players for certain outcomes. This perspective makes it seem absurd that rigged games exist. Rigging is a way to get around losing online poker. This must be the problem, right? I keep losing, but I’m still the greatest player of all time! All it boils down to is human ego.
Where can you find proof?
Even though I have been playing for 10 years, I have never seen any actual evidence to prove that online poker is rigged. To be safe, however, I performed a Google search in order to locate any kind of evidence that this has ever happened. A funny fact was that the first search result came up for an article from 2004. The article was so funny that I knew my search would prove futile. I continued onwards.
I tried many links and searched the forums. All I could see was people ranting about how “impossible” it was for them to have experienced such things. In each instance it seemed like someone was running bad and taking a bunch a bad beats. I didn’t see anything that was unusual.
Trust me. I have experienced as many as possible over the years, and it has never seemed unfair. I even ran $20,000 less than expected, which didn’t deter my from continuing to play. I will call B.S. as soon as I can find proof that an online site is rigging games. Anyone who says they are a victim is liable.
What about all the Times It “Felt” Rigged
Live poker can sometimes feel rigged. Remember that no hand is ever really that much ahead of others. AA will lose around 20% when all-in preflop. When these losses pile up, it can seem rigged.
People are often attached to their possessions and feel that they have ownership. This leads to feelings and entitlements, as well as a belief that there is no justice in this world. Truth is that there is no justice to poker. The fact that you may have experienced bad luck yesterday doesn’t make you more likely to experience good fortune today. This is called “the gambler’s mistake”. The truth is, most people who say poker is rigged have no poker skill. They use it as an excuse to lose.
This might not harm your win rate, even if the games were rigged for more action
What would it look like if games were rigged to generate more action? Hypothetically it could be that flops would connect with hands more often and players would be more motivated to get involved and invest more in the pot. There would be more draws and strong hands as well as more pairs. Also, everyone would find the games more thrilling.
Even so let’s discuss the elephant in poker room.
Who would benefit from more people getting involved and taking to the streets in the future? The more skilled players will win bigger pots that have higher flops, turns and rivers. This is common sense. This would make it easier for recreational players to lose their money faster, and allow them to move up the food chain more quickly. Trust me. This is NOT what the Poker Rooms want to see.
In reality, the opposite of what is true is true. Online poker sites encourage losing players to spend more time on the site, to make more rake, and to be happy enough that they continue to deposit more money. Artificially bloating the pots will only benefit those who are well-equipped to adapt, and eventually may result in losing money for the poker site.
Online Poker: Things that Could Go Wrong
Rigged games and any other type of “cheating,” done in a casino poker room, are not something that I worry about. There are some things that could be legitimate causes of concern.
Black Friday 2.0
Other than voting, there are few things we can do about online poker’s political influences. It is clear that governments have had precedent in preventing us from playing online poker. First was the UIGEA of 2006. Second was Black Friday. The mainstream powers that will recognize poker for its skill level and move beyond the draconian restrictions should be able to accept it.
Hacking accounts
This has actually happened at least once in the past. It even happened to Doug Polk a few year ago. Fortunately, most poker rooms treat this matter seriously. Even if money disappears overnight to a low-life hacker it is very likely that funds will be reinstated.
Solved the Games
There is a slight chance that as game theory advances and is more clearly understood, poker profits will decrease. This has been seen in sit and play. These games are now very difficult to beat, due to ICM’s understanding. Jackpot SNGs (spin-and-go’s) are a new format that has given life to the format.
The Future of Bots is Unbeatable
Poker bots are capable of defeating top pros in small, isolated matches. These programs are currently only suitable for heads up play. They would not work well in full ring and 6-max games. However, it begs the question: Are there ever times when we can be certain we’re not playing at tables full with bots? Sometimes, I worry about the possibility that the charts and graphs I created for my book could be used against I (lol).
Which Poker Sites are Trustworthy?
If you are looking at my viewpoint on selecting a poker site to play, trust might not be the best word. My online poker banking account is an investment. However, no investment is 100% safe. Black Friday is an example of this.
However, the odds of your bankroll being robbed by an online casino are very similar to that of being involved in a plane accident. Millions have played online gambling over the past two decades. Unfortunately, very few people have been in a position to be legitimately affected by such an incident. However, most people ended up getting most, if certainly all of their money back after Black Friday.
Online Interactions are easier if you have common sense
Whatever the game is, it doesn’t matter whether they are rigged. However, you should always be cautious and prudent when dealing with your bankroll. Avoid small, obscure sites that aren’t around for a while or have a history of paying out slow or other shenanigans. I recommend that only large, well-respected poker sites are used.
Ignition and Bovada have been my favorite sites. I was able to keep as much as $10,000 in one go. I didn’t worry about losing the money and slept like one at night. I advise that you only keep what is necessary to play your current stake. Cash out any extras as frequently as you can. A large proportion of your money is best managed offline.
Conclusion
After almost 20 years listening to people whine about poor play on “rigged poker sites”, it’s clear that people are getting tired of all this complaining. Unfortunately, many people new to online gambling might not know the true reason for their complaints. Don’t let that happen to you.
If you are still not sure, you can call any major poker site and ask about their integrity. They will explain the RNG process and be happy to answer your other questions. Online poker sites provide excellent customer support. If you don’t get a friendly service, then move on. It’s like buying your car. If you get a bad vibe as soon as you walk in the doors, you walk right back.
